Thus far both the pistol and ammo are winners.the story will continue. You are bidding on/buying a afariland- Model 6285 Level II Holster. SXT load (RA357SIGT) chronographed 1,360 FPS from the 4.4" barrel. 3/4 of them my reloads.įactory Winchester Ranger LE 125 Gr. The P226 Elite now has about 400 rounds through it.

Since it's not permanent you can always got back to the original trigger. Overall, I am impressed with the difference and would recommend it to anyone considering the change. The short reset allowed me to release the trigger slightly before reconnect. Not lighter, but seemed to fire smoother. There was a noticable difference in the feel of the trigger. The big difference I noted was that there was no real break in the shot cadence. Couldn't be more pleased Especially, since it means I didn't muck up the parts change.įailure to stop drills, at 7 yards, were a snap. I'm pleased to report that the pistol ran 100% with the short trigger installed and in conjuction with the SRT system. I believe that I am going to like the new trigger a lot!īack from the range. The most impressive aspect of the short trigger is the thickness from front to back (trigger face to back) and dry firing the gun gave me better control. While reassembly is a little easier, you are correct that putting the locking block back into the frame is difficult as well. I decided before I started that I would not completely detail strip the pistol and used the screwdriver tips to remove the grip screws and turn the trigger pin in the correct orientation with the cut outs facing downward at a 45 degree angle. I also used the SIGARMS Armorers tool ordered from Brownell's to help me with the common tasks. I suspect that if I did it a couple more times, I'd have it down pat. I was going to take some pictures, but my concentration was such that I was completely focused on the task at hand.įor me, removing the breach block was the most difficult since it is literally wedged in with the detent/slide lock spring! You are absolutely correct as I difficulty removing the trigger/trigger bar assembly as well. The video actually makes it look easy, but in reality the parts do have to be taken out in the order shown in the video and reassembled in the same fashion.
#SIG P226 SHORT RESET TRIGGER INSTALLATION INSTALL#
I watched the AGI Gunsmithing series on the P-series SIGARMs pistols last night and took some free time around dinner to go ahead and install mine.

I finished installing my short trigger in my CPO P-226!! Well, great minds do indeed think alike!!!!

The short trigger combined with the SRT system should be a good comination.

Overall it's a good mod and I'll report back after I get to test fire in the next day or two. Probably much easier after you've done a few of these and understand how all the parts should be situated. It took me about 25 minutes to reinstall the block back into the frame. The video could be better in that respect. Particular attention should be paid to spring positioning and the retention cuts made in various parts. Again, you'll have to work with the trigger/bar assembly to get in back into the frame and positioned properly. Once that is done replace the standard trigger with the short trigger and re-assemble. The one caveate being that you may have to "play" with the trigger and trigger bar assembly to get them from of the frame. The same part is available from SIG.ĭissassembly went routinely per the instructions on the tape. The trigger itself had been ordered from Brownell's, Inc (P/N: 732-000-409) and retails for about $30.00.

Since I have some knowledge of guns and the tools I began by watching the SIG Armorer's DVD The tape is worth every penny and gives step by step instructions covering all aspects of disassembly/reassembly plus armorer's tips. The part is drop in and replaces the standard factory trigger on the P226 and most of the Sig semi-auto's (I don't have a total list).

Just completed the installation of the Sig "short trigger" conversion.
